The Last one

This is my last year in the university as a regular student, the next year I’m going to do my thesis, grade exam and practice so this is my last course of English in this university. For mi general formation English it’s a powerful and useful tool, learning a second language expands our mind to other types of meanings and to another world of knowledge . . . in short terms to another whole world, but also I think it’s a necessary knowledge in this “global” times that we are living in, were the communication and information have an important place in this society. But the majority of English that I know it-s no because of this English course, I already knew English very well because when I was ten year old I lived one year in the States.
This course only help me to put in exercise mi actual English but the help was very marginal, when somebody reach a level of English it have to practice in a level accord to it . . . and the best way I think it is going to another country and just speak English, well that it’s a very difficult think to achieve, but I’m seriously thinking about it, because I mean what I say before, English it-s a powerful tool. But in the other hand maybe it’s better to learn another language besides English, for doing this I need to think hard in a good thesis that help me for doing a post degree or something like that, in this time I don’t really know.
Well this is my last post so is my goodbye to this blog, I hope somebody enjoy it . . . I enjoy to write this things, it is a good exercise to practice my English and to practice the writing.
Doing some kind of review of the course, it was a good course, not at my level (jajaja that really sounds elated) but I learn some vocabulary, grammar and as I said I put in practice my English. But for the people that didn’t know English this type of course are very useful, but this can’t be the last level it’s just too basically and we need a higher level, in other countries in the university you have to have two languages well known apart from the mother language. We hope that this English curse improves and well that all folks! Goodbye to you all!! See you in the feature!

My faculty . . .

I’m doing this post from the new computer room of the faculty; there are more than 50 new computers . . . in the past you almost have to fight to get a computer if the computer room wasn’t in class. This was a big and necessary improvement for the faculty but there are a lots of other needs in terms of facilities, like a more complete library whit the minimum bibliography for all the courses, we also need a better study room. And there are structural things like the space, there are some class rooms that are very small and in the summer are very hot, but in general the faculty is well equipped, compared whit other faculties like Public administration that is falling apart but in the other head there are faculties like Business and economics , that are very well equipped. That’s it’s a big political problem, because there are faculties that produces a lot of money and receive, and there are another that are almost in broke, but we can’t let the market decides which things have to be studies, reached etc, the university needs to create a way that all faculties have a good equipment.
There is coming the bicentenary project, that will bring a lots of changes to the campus and to the Faculty, these is the instance to make several changes in the facilities, and all the statements have to participate in the way that the campus it’s going to be improve. We hopa tha happens.

MUSIC!!!!

I think this will be my favorite post . . . because music it’s one the things that I likemore, in all of its senses. I love to hear music, to know new music, to learn about it, to play it, to feel it, etc etc. But this will be very superficial post because this issue it’s very wide.
Well ill start with my likes of music. . . . jajaja I listen to all type of music and I try to always hear something new, I search in web pages like MySpace, lastfm and in some dedicated music blog, and also from what i ear of other people. I used to hear a lot of rock like grunge, death metal, trash, punk, classical, etc. but at the same time I was listening Chilean music, folk, Argentinean rock, etc. Then I like to hear hip hop, electronic, etc. In short terms I like music by itself, I’m not attach to a specific type of music I like new things, experimental ones, I hear music because it’s something that’s makes me feel different, affects my senses and can transport me to another place, in myself, but also with other people, it’s something that’s belongs to everyone that feel it. It's universal and particular at the same time.
I also said that I like to play music. I star to play the guitar when I was fiveteen years old. But I stop to play it regular when I entered the university. I also learn to play a little bit of charango bass and trumpet. Next year I want to dedicate some important part of my time to play more, especially trumpet and guitar, to join some band or make one whit my friend. I live whit two and they also play the guitar and some piano and bass . . . I really don’t’ know what are we waiting . . . but well the university takes a lots of time. Gaza, a never end conflict.

Recently I read a new on guardian.co.uk about the conflict in Gaza between Israel and Palestine. This article was about a report that the UN made about war crimes in the last conflict between Hammas and Israel in Gaza on January. This report accused both sides of war crimes. Obviously Israel rejected this report and said that this statement don-t contribute for peace. What can I said as an Anthropology student, well firs off all we have to understand the beginning of this conflict and what involves.
We must see the big picture of this conflict to understand what it’s happening, we have to take on count the history of this to Nations, the politic, the power beyond both sides, and what they represented, but in fist term as an Student of anthropology we have to take care about the cultural component in this conflict, in how this two countries, sides, nations, peoples are seen between them. This is a very complex point of view, and difficult to aboard, especially from a western eye, because of the cultural difference.
Going back to the news, there are human rights involve in this conflict, there are civilians, people that just want to live, from both sides. Not recognize that both sides committed war crimes it-s also saying that you don-t recognize that people that want to lived, you don-t recognize the death of civilians.

Tv Serials

Favorite TV serial.
Hellooooo, it’s been a long time from my last post . . . but I’m back. Well in this post I’ll talk about TV serials, mmm actually I’m not fallowing anyone, but I have seen a lot, specially the typical one, from the serial channels Warner and Sony, like lost, Scrubs, doctor house etc. Now I’m waiting for the last season of Lost to come out.
When I fallow a TV serial it’s for its argument, the work in the character, the history, the photograph etc . . . in short terms when I see something that I like it’s not for the amount of special effects that it have or the amount of production, I like it because it was made whit care, like any good piece of art. But I also see serial that aren’t very good and don’t have that care component, so I see them just for fun, to see something.
Another type of serial that I like to watch . . . but I haven’t seen in a long time is animation. Like Evangelion, Lain, Death Note, Black Lagoon, Elfen Lied, Ergo proxy etc. I like this type of serial because you can make any type of reality that you want, so the histories usually goes beyond this reality, taking normal situation but whit a totally different content, and the work of the character usually it-s very deep.

Transantiago

The actual system of public transportation it’s thousands of year beyond the past yellow buses. In general terms Transantiago it’s a good system of public transportation . . . but it still have a lot of problems specially in the peripherals neighborhoods, whit some routes. The system of public transport it’s now stable, but in the beginning was a mess, in comparatives wais, the old public transport was much better than the brand new Transantiago. It need it a lot of time, patience and money to fix it to an acceptable way.
The main reason of the failure of Transantigo, in it’s beginnings, was the poor pacification, they focus the system in to the minimum cost possible . . . but the government didn’t think about what the people wants and need. This was another political move for the government and a business for the companies involve, and not a need of the people. After all, this system it’s more expensive that they think.
One of the problems for the future it is the expensive that the ticket it’s getting, discouraging the use of the public transport, and actually encoring the use of cars making the environment worse. In almost all the world the public transportation it’s subsidized, and there are examples like Iceland were the public transportation it’s free. The governments necessarily have to think beyond the economic cost, and also start to listen to the people for the best of all.

I WANT TO TRAVEL!!!!

Well well well . . . mmm I really want to go to Barcelona in this next vacations . . . I’m working and saving money for that, that’s the idea . . . I have my reason, it’s a beautiful place but I have been already there and I was hopping not to come back in a long time . . . because I wanted to travel to other places before. . . but how I said I have my reasons. But if something happens and I don’t travel to Spain instead I would like to travel the north of Peru and Ecuador . . .I meet a lot of people that says that you have to travel to those places, that is a friendly place whit beautiful beaches and landscapes. . And for the next year I would like to travel to New Zeeland or Australia , first to work and recover the money spend on the tickets and everything . . . and whit the extra money travel to the north, like Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, Laos and if I can and the money allow it, go to India. That’s a very big trip . . . I’m calculating like 7 moths for the whole thing . . . so I have one year and something to prepare it, but now I’m focus in Spain. I have a friend that traveled to new Zeeland to work and did that trip that I want to do.

In my short life I have the opportunity to travel and visit a lots of countries, but I think that Asia and Oceanic are places totally different from the places I already visit. I love to travel, to meet different people, places, landscapes, airs . . .and I will do it until I can.

FIRST HALF !

I enjoy a lot the first term of this year, especially because a meet a lot of new people. In academic terms it was a good term, I pass all subjects with regular grades, taken in care that I have 8 subjects, in this term to. I was able to go out this winter vacation, I went whit my girlfriend to the central coast, but we first went to Pomaire and the Melipilla, we were “Conejeando”, in the road we were deciding our destiny, son after Melippilla we went to san Antonio then Cartagena and after that to el Tabo, and then to Isla Negra and we finally went to Algarrobo to a cousins house, we did all that in 4 days. It was a wonderful trip, for both of us, but especially for Marina because she is from another country and didn’t know the central coast. After that trip we take a rest of two days and with some friends we went three days to San Jose of Maipo, we have the luck that when we just arrive it was snowing.

In short terms it was a good firs half of the year . . . I hope that this one it’s better.

LAST ONE !

Nininiiiii this is my last post . . . I hope you enjoy it, I know …it wasn’t a very entertainment blog but I did my best to give some information and points of views, that I hope help someone. Well in this post I’ll write about my experience doing this blog, as an weekly English assignment
This is my firs blog, in the past I had tried to do one . . . just for the coolness, but I really never did it. So this was some of that things that once I have the intention to do but I didn’t do, ja! that is a score for me.
Like an assignment It`s was useful in a way to improve my English, a little bit it help me to practice mi writing, and to think issues in English. I note that I need to improve my vocabulary, I’m really shorts of concepts. Also this blogs help to do a more didactic class, and to use the internet and its tools in several ways, like the blog, doing research, using translators etc.
Sometimes I enjoy to write on my blogs but also other times I didn’t have much energy and enthusiasm to do it so I only do it as an assignment, writing the basic about an issue, but in the other hand there were times that I really like the issue that the assignment treat so I make an effort to write a good post, for example in the post about photograph, in this post I tried to explain in short words mi interest about the photography and in some way how I feel it, it wasn’t very hard and I really enjoy it. Other post that I like were the one about the anthropology links and the one about my career. Well thats al folks, see ya.

Favorite Subject

This term I had a lot of goods subjects but the one I like and enjoy the most was culture and environment. This subject it’s in charge of Juan Lebert. The things that I like about this subject are the way that the subject goes in form and content. In form because every tree week we have a lecture control, were we have to applied the lecture whit an example, and between this controls we have to give a presentation about some issue related to the matter talk in the class. So this methodology make us applied the contents of the subjects, so we interpret and use the subject in a applied and reflexive way. In terms of content I like it because we are seeing thing that we already see or have ideas about but in this subject we give it a way, and order, another perspective that help us in the understanding of the matter.

A piece of future

Now I’ll talk a Little about the expectations that I have for my future . . . . recently I haven’t thinking a lot about it . . . I just want to pass this semester because it has been a hard one, so I don’t really have the energy to think beyond July, that I leave it for the next semester were I hope I found a good theme for my thesis, now I have some ideas but they are not really clear, the next year I must have a clear idea to finish this career. After that I might take a post grade, but sometimes I think is better star working and then in two o 3 years more take a post degree. So as you can see I don’t really have a clear picture of my future beyond a few years, but I know that I want to travel a lot, live in other cities and keep studying, learning. I may be living with some friends, not alone. I know I want to be in peace whit my self and whit what ill be doing, surrounded whit people that I care and love, I want to be fine whit normal problems. There are some things that I hope about mi in the future, but there are lots of other things that I've expectations: about other persons, situation, from the society etc.

About Anthropology . . . my career

Before anthropology I enter to Bachillerato, that’s a kind of College, a kind because you have to take the Psu and enter like any regular career. We used to joke about it, Bachillerato it’s like a 5th of high school, you have 15 obligatory classes, like mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry, history anthropology etc and 5 that you choose according to the area that you want to fallow. The bases classes are in almost every career. The meaning of Bachillerato it’s to know the different careers in the university so you have more time and experience to pick the career that you really want, and obviously you can join this career by the program of Bachillerato, so also you can choose Bachillerato to enter a career that you didn’t make it whit the score in the Psu.
I enter Bachillerato because I was confused, I didn’t know what career I want. In the beginning I liked almost everything, but in the way y realize that I like more the areas were the arts and the letters were included, like humanistic, social and artistic areas. Well, after a year I decide that I want Architecture or Anthropology. I always like more architecture, I think I have lots of faculties for that career but I always had in mind that anthropology some day was going to captivate me, and at the moment in some way did it. From the beginning I have some distance whit the anthropology, basically for the fact that I didn’t know too much about it, just the superficial things.
This it’s a social science, so it tries to do studies from a methodology and a theory, using several techniques. The focus of these studies are the human being, dividing anthropology in three areas: Physic Anthropology, that’s studies the more biological part of the human being, centering the studies in the material being and his evolution it’s the more scientific area. The second area it’s the Archeology that focus his studies in the past cultures by the material rest that this cultures left. And at last Social anthropology that studies the social and cultural phenomenons. This are very basic, traditional and superficial definitions of the different aspect of the anthropology. Because it’s a career that like almost everyone evolves, change in its foundation and has several point of view of itself, deferent’s theories. There are discussion about itself that are happening in this moment . . . sometimes is in a lethargy and sometimes it’s in a furious evolution . . . that obviously in some way depends in the discussion and evolution of it of the other social science, flow of thought, disciplines etc. To resume this is a very wide Career that uses elements from a lot of others careers and disciplines, because of its focus of studies, the culture, the human being.

Now something about this and me !

I there, these was suppose to be my first post but by thing of life I put it now. This is the introduction of my blog, where I tell you what about me, who m I, and what’s this all about.
Well well . . . first of all this blog It’s about me, and whit that I don’t mean that I’m going to talk just about me, but it’s based on my interest. I’m not going to tell you which there are, that we are going to see it in the way. Well in the formal side, my name is Ignacio Gonzalez, I lived in Santiago the capital of Chile, a country well known for its wines, cupper, and a lots of products exported to the first world, but Chile is more than that, sometimes (almost every time ) I think this country it’s in a bubble and if all the people look around whit a little humility and a opened mind they realize that we are in a (/&&%/& country because of (the church, the conservator class, the dictatorship, the political class etc etc ) . . . . . . But ok, that we can also discus in the way and maybe changed in some way. Aaa and I almost forget it, I’m a anthropology student and I’m in forth year. That’s all folks . . . for now.

Photograpy

I’ve always had some passion about the photography. I like it because you can keep a moment out of time and space, a moment that you chose, is a perspective delivery picked, a own vision of something, where you can set the time, light, place, focus and colors about it, so it’s not only a own perspective of something, it’s a perspective that can in some point escape from reality. I really like every type of photo but I like especially the ones that bring me back a memory. Like the old family pictures, or from the school, or the photos from a trip. In my room I have two frameworks of photos, one it’s a family picture where is my dad, mother, my tree sisters, mi grandmother, and mi aunt. The picture was taken by mi uncle and it was in Iloca a beach in the south of Chile, a very cold beach. The other frameworks have 4 pictures from different places, but in all pictures are my sisters and I, and in one is also my dad, I can’t really tell when where they taken. I also like to see like professional pictures, I mean pictures taken by people that have a technical and esthetical background, people that in some way reflects about what are photographing, have and idea. I don`t really visit anthropology sites . . . I have to read a lot in the university so I don't have the time to read from the internet, but I have visited a lot of sites to do some works . Technology . . .

One of the objects of technology that a used more often . . . not the more useful an important, but the one I really appreciate in very specifics moments of the day, it's my mp3 player. I usually used when I’m ridding my bike or in the bus. I remember when I was like in 6 grade and I have a walkman, then I’ve got a cd player an after that I got an mp3 player. I had always like music, so I always want the possibility to ear it where ever I want and whatever I want. In the past I used to do compilation of music on cassettes and cd's, it was a lot of waste of money and time, now it’s very easy to get new music from the internet and put it in the mp3 player. These new technologies that can storage a big mass of media and transferred in a short time are evolving at every moment and the changes that this technologies did to the perception and appreciation to the music are enormous. In the past it was very difficult to ear new music every day and listened whenever you wanted, you usually listen to few artist, and the ones that the record label auspicate, or the ones you listen alive or in the radio, so you have a short vision over the different types of music . . . now you can listened music from everywhere, a tons of it . . . it's a better way to appreciate it.
